About Kata
Between worlds, across disciplines.
Kata is a global, interdisciplinary collective anchored in Helsinki and Hyderabad and working across countries, cultures and fields. We bring together artists, technologists, researchers, builders and collaborators drawn to questions that do not sit neatly within one discipline—and to forms of practice that emerge in ambiguity.
We work between worlds often kept apart: art and technology, commercial practice and grassroots activism, institutions and communities, local contexts and global exchange. We are interested in how these worlds can challenge and sustain one another, and in creating counterweights to structures that increasingly concentrate access, resources, visibility and decision-making.
Kata creates projects, tools and collaborations that are experimental but grounded, commercially aware without being commercially determined, and built from practice rather than imposed from above. Ignite is Kata's first project: one expression of this wider collective direction, not its limit.
The collective
Kata is small and growing. These seats are open — for artists, technologists and researchers who want to build the next thing with us.
